The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Grant Program's focus is to provide expanded academic enrichment opportunities for children attending Tittle I schools. Tutorial services and academic enrichment activities are designed to help students meet local and state academic standards in subjects such as reading and math. In addition, 21st CCLC programs provide youth development activities, drug and violence prevention programs, technology education programs, art, music and recreation programs, counseling and character education to enhance the academic component of the program
On June 11, 2008 West Village Academy with its partner school the Dearborn Academy were awarded the cohort E grant to continue funding of the 21 st Century Community Learning Center’s STAR Program. Each year the academies re-apply for continued funding.
The program services approximately 215 students per year. |
